Our Sideline Cheer Program is the heartbeat of Nighthawk school spirit, energizing our campus and community while proudly supporting Murrieta Valley High School athletics. With three levels of participation—Freshman, JV, and Varsity—athletes have the opportunity to grow, develop their skills, and build lasting connections within our program. From Friday night football under the lights to basketball games, pep rallies, assemblies, and community events, our sideline cheerleaders serve as ambassadors for Murrieta Valley High School, creating an exciting and positive game-day atmosphere while developing leadership, confidence, teamwork, and school pride.

The sideline season begins when teams are selected in May, and continues through the following year in March, concluding with the end of the basketball season. Tryouts for the upcoming school year typically take place in May, with teams formed immediately following the tryout process. Practices begin in June and continue throughout the summer to prepare athletes for the upcoming football season. Practices are typically held three days per week, and all three teams participate in a 3-day skills camp during the summer at Cal Baptist University. A school-wide two-week dead period is typically observed at the beginning of July, and families are encouraged to plan summer travel during this time so athletes can maintain consistent attendance at practices.

Beyond athletic ability, we expect every Nighthawk cheerleader to be a dedicated student, responsible teammate, and positive representative of our school and program. Athletes are expected to demonstrate integrity, respect, accountability, and sportsmanship in everything they do. Our goal is to develop well-rounded young leaders who not only bring energy and pride to the sidelines, but also exemplify what it means to be a Nighthawk both on and off the field.
