
Freshman Sideline, Head Coach
Ryann McDermott graduated from Vista Murrieta High School in 2017 after four years in the VMHS Cheer program. She has 17 years of cheerleading experience, including all-star and sideline programs, collegiate cheer, and coaching youth athletes in both disciplines.
Coach McDermott attended Concordia University, in Irvine on a cheer and STUNT scholarship and was the first athlete from Murrieta to sign with a collegiate STUNT team. She graduated in May 2021 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and minors in Nursing and Psychology.
Coach McDermott currently serves as an RSP Teacher at MVHS and is entering her sixth year of coaching. She continues to volunteer with local cheer programs and share her expertise with middle school cheer teams throughout the area. Cheer has always been a passion, and Coach McDermott is excited to share her experience and love of the sport with our athletes!

Coed Competition Team, Assistant Coach
Haley Altenhofel is a former Murrieta Valley High School cheerleader who was a part of all levels of the program during her time at MV. After graduating from Murrieta Valley, she continued her athletic career at California Baptist University, where she competed as a STUNT athlete for four years and graduated with a degree in Sports Management and a minor in Psychology.
Throughout her athletic career, Haley has gained extensive experience in teamwork, leadership, competition, and athlete development. She was a four-time national champion with CBU STUNT. She also has previous coaching experience working with youth athletes in stunt and cheer.
Haley is excited to bring her experience as both an athlete and coach back to the Murrieta Valley program. She hopes to help athletes grow not only in their skills and confidence, but also as teammates, leaders, and individuals. Her goal is to create a positive and encouraging environment where athletes feel challenged, supported, and proud to be a part of the program.

JV Sideline, Head Coach
Coach Makayla is a proud graduate of MV, where she was a dedicated member of the cheer team and competed on all varsity teams throughout her cheer career. Her experience as an athlete has given her a strong understanding of the commitment, discipline, teamwork, and dedication that cheerleading requires.
Now in her second year of coaching, Coach Makayla is passionate about helping athletes grow both on and off the mat. She brings her experience as a former athlete into her coaching by creating a positive, encouraging, and hardworking environment where athletes can build confidence, develop their skills, and reach their goals.
Coach Makayla is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree and continues to grow her knowledge and experience as both a student and coach. She is excited to continue giving back to the program that played such an important role in her own cheer journey and looks forward to helping the next generation of athletes create their own memories and reach their full potential. ❤️🖤
